That is something I so often forget. I think that by growing up, there is so much I have to let go of---so much I have to leave behind. As if becoming an adult is the complete end of life as I know it. Thank you for reminding me that it isn't.

And yes, we should all look for beauty and wonder when it's the last thing we think we can find.

I will look for three (or more!) little things to be thankful for each day and begin filling my treasure box. :-)

Thanks again for telling me all this.

<3 MadisonMadison Sonnier https://www.blogger.com/profile/17689138122547284808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2082159757107106731.post-61808149068021041442012-02-23T21:25:12.606-06:002012-02-23T21:25:12.606-06:00Hi Madison,

I too have had a crappy year (and then some, and it hasn't ended yet) but (and I am sure you know this in your heart, on a good day, in spite of what you say above) the great thing is, you don't have to grow up. Don't think that way! I haven't grown up. I have a job, responsibilities, grandchildren, etc etc, but I try to find wonder in every moment. Sometimes it's incredibly hard but that moment will pass, and then there's another opportunity for wonder!

Even being sad is an opportunity for wonder. Look at that sadness, and let it fill you, then step back, then look closely at it again. Don't be shy. It's a part of you and you can accept it as a good thing in a way.

We have to accept that the world around us is kind of crappy, but we don't have to accept that we can't make our world better. All it takes, sometimes, is a closer look, or a step back, to see some beauty. And then, once we have a glimpse of that, we have something to reflect on for the rest of the day. If we can find three little things in one day (which isn't really all that hard) we have a little treasure box to open and look at just before we go to sleep.

Nothing grown-up about that!!!

Cheers,

epitaxial.leapepitaxial.leaphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06475699660285045577noreply@blogger.com
